Challenge
In an era of political polarization, the Builders Movement recognized the need for a tool that empowers citizens to evaluate their congressional representatives based on measurable impact rather than partisan alignment. They sought a platform that would highlight lawmakers’ effectiveness and commitment to bipartisan problem-solving, bridging the gap between political action and public understanding.
The challenge was to create a microsite that not only delivered weekly, data-driven rankings but also presented this information in a way that was accessible, engaging, and actionable for diverse audiences. It needed to attract and serve engaged citizens, political analysts, advocacy groups, and educators alike.
Solution
ThreeSixtyEight collaborated with the Builders Movement to develop a dynamic microsite that empowers users to assess congressional performance through transparent, data-driven insights. By focusing on clarity, interactivity, and usability, we created a platform that transforms complex political data into an engaging experience for diverse audiences.

Power Ranking
A Transparent Scoreboard for Accountability
At the heart of the Builders Power Rankings microsite is the Power Ranking scoreboard—a meticulously curated feature that showcases the Top 10 Builders (5 Republicans and 5 Democrats) and the Top 10 Dividers (5 Republicans and 5 Democrats). The scores are calculated based on several metrics, including policy discussion, constructive debate, and legislative efficacy. This provides a balanced and unbiased view of congressional effectiveness. The scoreboard is updated weekly via API for the four weeks preceding election day, enabling users to stay informed about shifting dynamics in governance and identify which lawmakers are fostering collaboration vs driving division. This feature serves as a powerful visual benchmark for promoting transparency and accountability in U.S. politics.

Individual Representative's "Baseball Cards"
In-Depth Profiles at a Glance
The microsite’s individual representatives’ “Baseball Cards” provide a rich layer of detail for users seeking a deeper understanding of congressional performance. Each clickable card reveals a comprehensive set of metrics, including voting records, bipartisanship scores, and notable achievements. Designed with both clarity and depth, these stat cards present a nuanced picture of each lawmaker’s impact, empowering users to move beyond surface-level assessments. Whether you’re a concerned citizen or a seasoned analyst, the “Baseball Cards” make political data accessible, insightful, and actionable.

Panelist Commentary
Expert Perspectives to Contextualize the Rankings
The Builders Power Rankings microsite goes beyond raw data by incorporating expert insights from a panel of five distinguished commentators. These panelists provide thoughtful analyses that contextualize the rankings, highlight trends, and offer perspectives on what the data reveals about the state of U.S. governance. Their commentary adds a human element to the numbers, sparking informed discussions and helping users connect data-driven insights with real-world implications. This feature reinforces the site’s mission to foster a more informed and engaged citizenry.
ThreeSixtyEight and the Builders Movement teams aligned on two KPIs for this project:
Reach
Get this tool in as many voters' hands as possible before the election. Knowing that the Builders Movement would rely mostly on social sharing, we designed the site with responsiveness, accessibility, and screenshot-ability in mind.
Engagement
Make it easy - and fun - to explore the data week after week. Interactive features were strategically placed to encourage clicking and scrolling down the page. Built for efficiency and scalability, this microsite will encourage political dialogue for years to come.
